Fruit in Our Lives

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

This is probably a very familiar verse to most of us. Disciples of Christ should be known by their fruit. As Christians, do we show this fruit in our daily lives? Is there love instead of anger, joy instead of sorrow, Kindness instead of a harsh tone? The Bible gives us different pictures as to what “bearing fruit” means. There are many parables about fruit (like the parable of the Sower in Matthew). Also, praising and thanking God is a way of bearing fruit in our lives. Hebrews 13-15 says, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name” (NKJV). When you praise God, that is bearing fruit.

Can other people identify fruit in our lives? Would someone know we are Christ followers just by observing us in our daily lives? If not, how can we change? God is so faithful to help us when we ask Him. If you see challenges in your life that keep you from bearing good fruit, ask the Holy Spirit to come and work in your life and to help you make a change. God bless You!
